Always Be Creating is an independent design and art direction studio based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We work across various creative disciplines to deliver outcomes ranging from holistic brand identities to campaign art direction, editorial design, and websites.

After gaining experience in creative businesses across Hampton Roads, John Thomas started his own design practice in 2016. John’s work has been recognized by numerous international award bodies including multiple Addy Awards. In addition to running his own creative practice, John continues to work collaboratively within design studios to retain a connection with the industry and the latest practices. Previous experience includes Howell Creative Group, Whitlow Baker, and The Ludlow Group.

Following the company namesake, John continues to work with clients around the globe and look for new opportunities to create.

Process

  1. Consultation – An initial meeting to discuss your project in detail and find clarity around your objectives. 
  2. Discovery – Prior to execution, we research the visual landscape of your industry and discover how competitors present themselves in the marketplace.
  3. Design Development – Once the scope and direction have been determined, we will explore many design concepts and refine a selected idea for presentation.
  4. Presentation – During the presentation, we will walk you through the steps that have ultimately led us to your design solution.
  5. Refinement & Application – If your concept requires refinements, we will work them into the application stage. Once the design has been approved, we will roll out the concept across all of the agreed touch-points.
